ChatGPT Ads for Moving Companies

They Ask ChatGPT About The Move. You Show Up Below The Answer.

We run ChatGPT ads that put your moving company in front of people planning a move, then follow every click to the move it books.

Get Your Free ChatGPT Ads Audit

Some customers now plan a move by talking it through with ChatGPT: the dates, the distance, the budget, what to ask a mover. ChatGPT ads can put your company right below the answer in those conversations, labeled as an ad, and every click can be followed through to the move it books.

How a campaign runs

Nothing To Bid On By Keyword. Five Things To Get Right.

There are no keywords to buy, so the work is showing ChatGPT’s ad system which conversations your company belongs in, then proving click by click what they book.

  1. Map The Conversations

We list the questions your customers ask while they plan a move, by service, route and season, and pick the ones your company should appear beside.

You get: A map of the moving conversations worth joining

  2. Build The Account

Your Ads Manager account, set up under your business, with campaigns by service and market and locations, budgets and bids set for the jobs you can take.

You get: An account you own, built around your services and areas

  3. Write The Ads And Pages

Headlines, descriptions, images and context hints for each kind of move, leading to a page OpenAI’s crawler can read, with your USDOT number in view.

You get: Ads and landing pages that make your fit obvious

  4. Wire The Tracking

OpenAI’s pixel and Conversions API, tagged links and your CRM, tested end to end before any budget goes live.

You get: Every click traceable to an estimate and a booking

  5. Scale What Books

Budget moves toward the conversations, ads and areas that produce booked moves, and away from the ones that don’t.

You get: A monthly readout by booked move, with the next test named

Search catches people who already know what they want, and feeds reach people before they start looking. ChatGPT ads meet them in between, while they talk the move through.

Still a beta: no published benchmarks yet, so we won’t invent any.

Why test now

Testing Early Isn’t A Guarantee. It’s A Head Start On Learning.

OpenAI still calls its ads a beta and publishes no benchmarks. What a bounded test buys you is evidence from your own market.

  • An Auction Still Taking Shape

Prices come from an auction that weighs relevance and bids, so they depend on who else wants the same conversations. We check your market before you commit a budget.

  • Learning That Carries Forward

Which questions, ads and pages book moves in your market is something only running ads can teach you. A small test starts that learning early.

  • Tracking Ready Before It Matters

Pixel, Conversions API, tagged links and CRM matching set up while budgets are small, so you’re measuring booked moves from the first click.

Let Us Show You Whether ChatGPT Ads Fit Your Moving Company

ChatGPT ads are new, and they aren’t right for every mover yet. In some markets your ad could appear beside plenty of conversations about moves; in others the same budget would do more fixing a landing page or tracking the calls you already get.

Your free growth audit answers that first. We check that your business and landing pages are ready for OpenAI’s review, that your tracking can follow a click to a booked move, and which moving conversations are worth joining. Then we show you the test we’d run and what it would cost.

A man working on a laptop at his kitchen table, with moving boxes stacked behind him

ChatGPT Ads Built Around How Movers Sell

Most moves are booked through an estimate: a form or a call, then a survey, then a written price. A ChatGPT ad has done its job when it starts that process with someone you can serve, so we plan every campaign around the estimate request and the booked move, not the click.

The same rule runs through our Google Ads and Facebook Ads work, so every channel is judged on one scoreboard.

“Not Yet” Is A Useful Answer

If the audit finds that OpenAI’s crawler can’t read your landing pages, that your tracking can’t see a booked move or that your budget would do more elsewhere, we’ll say so and tell you what to fix first.

Already Running ChatGPT Ads?

Some movers have already opened an OpenAI Ads Manager account. We review what’s running: the campaigns, context hints, targeting, creative enhancement settings and tracking, and how results have been measured so far.

The basics

What ChatGPT Ads Are, And What They Look Like

ChatGPT ads are paid placements that OpenAI shows below ChatGPT’s responses. One ad appears at a time, separate from the answer and labeled as an ad. OpenAI began testing them in the US in February 2026 and still describes the program as a beta.

Each ad shows the advertiser’s name and favicon, a headline, a description and an image, and leads to the advertiser’s landing page. OpenAI calls ads paid placements, not endorsements.

Where Ads Appear

Ads appear below a response, never inside it. OpenAI is also testing other placements, such as an ad shown while ChatGPT creates an image, but for a moving company the place that matters is the ad under an answer.

The Formats

An ad can use a single image or, since a beta opened in late October 2026, four to six square images with a single Learn more button. Ads built from product feeds are designed for retailers.

No Call Button Or Lead Form

OpenAI’s documentation describes no call button, call extension or built-in lead form for ChatGPT ads. Every customer reaches you through your landing page, so that page has to make calling or requesting an estimate easy.

The audience

Who Sees Ads In ChatGPT, And Who Never Does

Ads appear for adults using ChatGPT’s Free and Go plans. People on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans don’t see them, and neither do accounts identified as belonging to someone under 18. Logged-out visitors can see ads too, limited to ones suitable for all audiences.

As of October 2026, OpenAI shows ads in 89 countries, including the United States. Free users can also switch to an ads-free mode that comes with lower usage limits.

Conversations That Never Show Ads

OpenAI keeps ads away from conversations about personal health, mental health and politics, shows no political ads and shows no ads in Temporary Chats. Its ad policies list further sensitive topics where ads don’t appear.

What People Can Control

People can turn off ad personalization, stop past chats and memory being used for ads, see their ad history and delete their ad data. On any ad they can hide it, report it, ask why they’re seeing it or ask ChatGPT about it, and OpenAI says ad interactions aren’t saved to memory.

What That Means For A Mover

Your audience is part of ChatGPT’s users, not all of them, and OpenAI’s rules decide which part. That’s one reason we treat ChatGPT ads as an addition to your search and social campaigns, not a replacement.

The answer isn’t for sale

Why Your Ad Never Changes ChatGPT’s Answer

OpenAI says ads run on separate systems from the chat model, and that “advertisers have no ability to shape, rank, or alter ChatGPT’s responses.” Your ad appears below the answer, and nothing about it changes what the answer says.

For a mover, that cuts both ways. No budget can buy you a recommendation, and no competitor can buy one either.

What Advertisers Get, And Don’t

OpenAI doesn’t share conversations with advertisers or sell user data. Advertisers never receive chats, chat history, memories, names, email addresses, precise locations or IP addresses; they get aggregated performance data, and OpenAI’s advertising terms limit its use to measuring campaigns.

Being Recommended Is A Separate Job

If you want ChatGPT to mention your company in its answers, that comes from clear, consistent information about your business that ChatGPT can find, and OpenAI says placement in its search results isn’t guaranteed. That’s the work of our AI search optimization service, measured separately from ads.

No keywords to buy

How ChatGPT Matches Ads To Moving Conversations

There are no keywords in ChatGPT ads. OpenAI’s system reads the context and intent of the conversation and compares it with your ad’s title and copy, your landing page, your context hints and your targeting, along with the person’s general location and language.

When personalization is on, it can also draw on past chats, memory and earlier ad interactions. Ads that fit are ranked on relevance and bid together, in what OpenAI calls a relevance-weighted second-price auction.

THE CONVERSATIONYour adYour landing pageContext hintsAudience & locationWHAT YOU CONTROLMatchYour ad, under the answerNo keywords to buy: the chat and your inputs decide.

Context Hints, Written For Moving Questions

Context hints are short descriptions you write of the conversations where your ad belongs, such as a family planning a long-distance move or someone asking what to look for in a mover. OpenAI is clear that they aren’t keywords, don’t guarantee delivery and can’t be used to limit geography.

Locations, Platforms And Audiences

Campaigns can target countries and, where available, states, cities, markets and postal codes; OpenAI documents no radius targeting. They can also choose platforms, such as the iOS and Android apps or desktop web, and use customer lists. A list needs at least 25,000 matched people before you can target it, but a list of any size can be excluded, which is useful for leaving out customers who already booked.

Your Landing Page Is Part Of The Match

OpenAI crawls each ad’s landing page to judge when the ad is relevant, so a page about long-distance moves helps a long-distance ad find long-distance conversations. The page has to be readable by OpenAI’s ad crawler, with no login, CAPTCHA or bot challenge in the way.

What You Can’t Target

OpenAI documents no keyword, demographic or interest targeting, and it has committed to guardrails against narrow targeting. Precision comes from the services, areas and messages you choose, not from profiling people.

Budgets, bids and accounts

How Moving Companies Buy ChatGPT Ads

Since May 2026, advertisers can buy ChatGPT ads themselves in OpenAI Ads Manager, which is still labeled a beta, as well as through OpenAI’s sales team and partners. The business that advertises and pays must be based in one of the countries OpenAI lists, which include the US, and OpenAI verifies the business and approves its website.

Self-serve campaigns need a daily budget of at least $25. You can pay per thousand views or per click, and campaigns optimized for conversions are still billed per click or per thousand views: you never pay per conversion.

Bids And What A Click Costs

An auction sets the price, so what a click costs depends on who else wants the same conversations. OpenAI’s own guidance suggests starting cost-per-click bids at $3 to $5, and its default bid strategy, Maximize results, comes with no cost-per-acquisition guarantee. We set bids and caps against what a booked move is worth to you.

Billing And Pauses

Card billing is postpaid, charged at thresholds that start low and rise, and delivered spend generally isn’t refunded. Ads can keep running for up to 24 hours after a pause, so we pace budgets with that in mind.

Your Account, In Your Name

OpenAI expects one ad account per advertiser, and agencies need a written agreement that binds the client to OpenAI’s terms. We set the account up under your business, so the account, its data and its history stay yours if you ever change agencies.

Written for the conversation

Ads And Landing Pages Written For People Planning A Move

Someone who has just described a three-bedroom move from Phoenix to Denver doesn’t need a slogan. They need to see quickly that you do that move, how your estimates work and how to get one. The headline, description and image say that in a line or two; the landing page says the rest.

Because OpenAI reads the landing page to decide when an ad is relevant, the page does two jobs: it convinces the customer, and it tells the matching system which conversations you belong in.

One Page For Each Kind Of Move

Local, long-distance, commercial and storage customers ask different questions, so each campaign leads to a page about that move: the service, the area, how estimates work and what to do next, with calling and requesting an estimate easy on a phone. Our website design team builds those pages when you don’t have them.

Creative Enhancements, Checked First

Since October 30, 2026, OpenAI has turned on creative enhancements by default. They can rewrite headlines and descriptions, translate them, resize images and even change the destination address, sometimes in real time, with no preview of each version. You can opt out, and the advertiser stays responsible for what runs, so we decide that setting with you before launch.

Claims You Can Back Up

OpenAI’s policies rule out unfounded claims about prices, outcomes and comparisons, false endorsements, and misrepresenting where you’re based or which areas you serve. The FTC expects the same of every ad: claims that are truthful and backed by evidence before they run.

One more channel, not a replacement

Where ChatGPT Ads Fit Beside Google And Facebook

Google search ads reach people who type what they already want, such as long distance movers, and mostly charge for the click. Facebook and Instagram reach people in their feeds before they start looking. ChatGPT ads sit between the two: they appear while someone talks a move through and compares the options.

That makes ChatGPT a third job, not a cheaper version of the first two. If your search campaigns are booking moves profitably, keep them funded and test ChatGPT with additional budget.

Facebook AdsCreates demandGoogle AdsCaptures demandChatGPT AdsJoins the decisionBooked movesThree channels, three jobs, judged by the same booking.

Keep What’s Working Funded

Moving money out of campaigns that book jobs to fund an untested channel is how a test becomes a loss. We size the ChatGPT test on its own, and our Google Ads and Facebook Ads work keeps running beside it.

One Scoreboard For Every Channel

Every platform reports clicks its own way. We compare channels on the numbers that matter to a mover, cost per qualified estimate and cost per booked move, measured the same way for each.

Follow the click

Tracking Every ChatGPT Ad Click To A Booked Move

OpenAI offers two ways to report what happens after a click: the OpenAI Pixel on your website and a Conversions API that sends events from your server or CRM. Used together with a shared event ID, they count each action once, and OpenAI adds its own click ID to landing page addresses.

Its standard events include a lead created and an appointment scheduled, which map onto an estimate request and a booked survey. Events from your systems can also be marked as phone-call or offline conversions, as long as they’re sent within seven days.

Tagged Links And Google Analytics

Ad links can carry UTM tags, so Google Analytics records ChatGPT visits as their own source and campaign, beside your other channels. OpenAI also offers a Google Analytics 4 connection, in beta and on request.

Calls Need Your Own Tracking

OpenAI has no call-tracking product, and many moving customers would rather call than fill in a form. A tracked number on the landing page, with calls matched back to the campaign, keeps phone bookings in the count. Our lead tracking service sets that up.

What OpenAI’s Reports Can And Can’t Tell You

Ads Manager reports impressions, clicks, spend, click-through rate, average costs and conversions, and credits each conversion to the last ad clicked within a 7-, 14- or 30-day window. Conversions take a day or two to appear and a booked move can take longer, so we read results by the week the requests came in, not day by day.

A budget and a decision rule

Running A ChatGPT Ads Test You Can Trust

OpenAI says it doesn’t yet have performance benchmarks across advertisers or industries. Anyone quoting you a cost per booked move for ChatGPT ads before you’ve run any is guessing.

So we run a bounded test. Before launch we agree the budget, the length, the measure that decides it and the result that would justify spending more, and we write them down.

A marketer reviewing abstract charts on a large monitor in a bright office

Judge It By Qualified Estimates

A test judged by clicks rewards ads that attract the curious. Kohavi and colleagues at Microsoft recommend choosing the measure before an experiment starts and favoring ones that predict long-term goals. For a mover, that means qualified estimates first, with booked moves checked as they arrive.

Give It Enough Time

Campaigns optimized for conversions need conversion data to learn from, and booked moves follow your sales cycle. We set review points with the test and say plainly what each one can and can’t tell you yet.

Compare It With What You Already Run

The test is read beside your Google and Facebook results for the same period and markets, so a busy month doesn’t pass for a ChatGPT win.

The handoff is part of the ad

What Happens After Someone Clicks Your Ad

A ChatGPT ad sends people who have been asking careful questions. If the page can’t answer the next one, or the estimate request sits in an inbox, the click is wasted.

Speed matters as much as the page. In research published in Harvard Business Review, firms that tried to reach a web lead within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify it as firms that tried even an hour later.

A Page That Continues The Conversation

The page repeats what the ad promised, in the same words, answers the question that brought the customer and makes the next step easy: call, request an estimate or book a survey.

A Fast, Useful First Reply

Every request gets a quick confirmation and a named next step, and missed calls get a callback. Our lead tracking and automation service handles the alerts and follow-up, so ChatGPT leads don’t wait.

Approved before it runs

ChatGPT Ad Policies And The Rules Movers Already Follow

Local services are among the categories OpenAI allows. Every ad still goes through review: automated systems check the advertiser, the ad and the landing page, people handle escalations and monitoring continues after approval. Ads or pages that can’t be reviewed don’t run.

Some ads movers run elsewhere won’t run in ChatGPT. OpenAI prohibits ads for individual job listings, so crew and driver recruiting stays on other channels, and ads that promote financing have to be checked against OpenAI’s limits on financial products.

Your USDOT Number In Every Ad

Interstate movers must show their name and USDOT number in every advertisement, and a mover with a website must link to FMCSA’s “Ready to Move?” booklet or a true copy of it. States add their own rules: Texas requires a registered mover’s TxDMV number in its ads and on its website’s home page, California requires the Cal T number in advertising for moves within the state, and Florida requires a mover’s registration number in every ad.

Those rules apply to ChatGPT ads like any other, which is one more reason to settle creative enhancements before they rewrite your copy.

Brokers Have Their Own Rules

A household goods broker arranges moves rather than performing them, and federal rules set out what a broker’s advertising must say. We check which rules apply to your company before we write a line.

Ads That Don’t Pretend To Be ChatGPT

OpenAI’s policies also bar ads that imitate the ChatGPT interface. Your ad looks like what it is: an ad from a moving company.

Straight answers

What We Won’t Promise About ChatGPT Ads, And Why

No agency controls when ChatGPT shows an ad. OpenAI ranks ads on relevance and bids, says context hints don’t guarantee delivery and still calls the whole program a beta. Its advertising terms make no promise of results either.

So we don’t sell a guaranteed placement, a mention in ChatGPT’s answers, a cost per lead before a test or results borrowed from other businesses’ case studies. We do the work that makes your ads relevant and measurable, and we report honestly on what booked.

What you get instead

  • A written test plan with its budget, length and decision rule
  • Ads and pages checked against OpenAI’s policies and mover rules
  • Tracking tested from the click to the booked move
  • Reports that label what is measured, modeled or unknown
  • Plain language about what can’t be attributed yet

How we launch your ChatGPT ads

Three steps to launch. Then campaigns that keep learning.

Every step ends with a checkpoint. No budget goes live until tracking can tell a booked move from a stray click.

  1. Audit & plan

We check that your business, pages and tracking are ready for OpenAI’s review, map the moving conversations worth joining and agree a capped test budget and decision rule with you.

  2. Build & wire

Your Ads Manager account, campaigns, ads and landing pages go in, and OpenAI’s pixel, Conversions API, tagged links and your CRM are tested end to end.

  3. Launch & read

Ads go live once tracking works. The first readouts count qualified estimates and booked moves, not clicks, and say what is still too early to tell.

  4. Ongoing

    Optimize & expand

Booked moves decide where the budget goes next.

    • Ad, image and landing page tests
    • Context hint and targeting refinements
    • Bids and budgets moved toward booked moves
    • New services and areas as results allow
    • Reports beside your Google and Facebook numbers
    • Policy and claim checks on every new ad

Check Out Our Mega FAQ
Can moving companies advertise on ChatGPT?

Yes. Local services are among the ad categories OpenAI allows, and businesses based in the US can buy ChatGPT ads in OpenAI Ads Manager, which is still a beta. Every ad and landing page goes through OpenAI’s review first.

Do ChatGPT ads replace Google Ads?

No. Search ads reach people who already know what they want. ChatGPT ads reach people while they talk a move through. We fund a ChatGPT test from new budget where possible and compare both by booked moves.

How soon will we know if ChatGPT ads work?

Clicks reach OpenAI’s reports within minutes and conversions within a day or two, but booked moves follow your sales cycle. We agree a test length and decision rule before launch and report what each review point can and can’t tell you yet.

What are ChatGPT ads?

Paid placements OpenAI shows below ChatGPT’s responses, one at a time, labeled as an ad and separate from the answer. Each shows the advertiser’s name, a headline, a description and an image, and leads to the advertiser’s landing page. OpenAI still describes the program as a beta.

Who sees ads in ChatGPT?

Adults on ChatGPT’s Free and Go plans, and some logged-out visitors, in the 89 countries where OpenAI shows ads. People on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans never see them, and neither do accounts identified as under 18 or Temporary Chats.

Will a ChatGPT ad make ChatGPT recommend us?

No. OpenAI says advertisers can’t shape, rank or alter ChatGPT’s responses, and it calls ads paid placements, not endorsements. Being mentioned in answers depends on clear, consistent information about your company, which is what our AI search optimization covers.

How much do ChatGPT ads cost?

You set the budget. OpenAI’s self-serve minimum is $25 a day, you pay per click or per thousand views in an auction, and OpenAI suggests starting cost-per-click bids at $3 to $5. Ad spend stays separate from our management fee, and we size the test around what a booked move is worth to you.

Can we target only the areas we serve?

Within OpenAI’s options, yes: countries and, where available, states, cities, markets and postal codes. OpenAI documents no radius targeting, so we build your service area from those, and your landing pages say plainly where you work.

How do you track leads from ChatGPT ads?

With OpenAI’s pixel and Conversions API, tagged links in Google Analytics and your CRM. OpenAI has no call tracking, so we add tracked numbers for customers who call. Booked moves are matched back to the click wherever your CRM allows.

Who owns the ChatGPT ads account?

You do. OpenAI expects one ad account per advertiser, set up for your business, and we work in it under OpenAI’s rules for agencies. The account, its data and its history stay yours.
